Aulos Flute Ensemble is built on a well grounded collaboration of three flautists in Iceland. They have performed at all major music festivals in Iceland for example, Dark Music Days, Skálholt Summer Concerts, Reykjavik Art Festival and Tectonics. In addition they have performed Icelandic music in the USA and Italy. The aim of the establishment of Aulos Flute Ensemble is to commission for new music for low flutes; alto-bass and contrabass flutes and the focus is on all flute contemporary repertoire. Aulos Flute Ensemble was founded in 2019 but remarkably has already has several compositions commissioned and premiered. Aulos Flute Ensemble was awarded a grant to record some of the works dedicated to the ensemble with future publication in mind. Currently the ensemble is collaborating on a project with female composers from the Nordic countries and Japan.
